*DO I NEED A CUSTOM INVOICE TEMPLATE?
Yes. All of the above invoice customizations only work if you are using a custom invoice template (built in Report Writer). If you would like to keep the look of your invoices similar, we can provide a template that looks similar to the default invoice in ConnectWise.
What is an Addition Custom Field?
Addition custom fields are one of many areas in ConnectWise that allow you to track information or options specific to your company. Going to Setup Tables > Custom Fields > Agreement Additions allows you to set up additional checkboxes, text boxes, etc. that can be referenced by your custom invoice template. Here are some examples of custom fields you can create and we can integrate with your invoice:
- Checkbox titled “Do not show on invoice”
- A new item will display inside the agreement addition, allowing you to choose which items should be completely hidden from your invoice.
- Text box titled “Bundle Parent”
- Use free-form text or define specific options for the different grouping you want to allow on the invoice.
- Any addition with the same text will belong to the same group on the invoice, allowing you to show a subtotal for that group.
- Many clients use this option to show their backup solution and support offering as one line item to the client with a single total, while still keeping them in separate buckets for accounting/reporting purposes.
Can I use a custom field other than Agreement Additions?
In most cases, yes. Talk to us about your specific need. As long as there is an appropriate logical relationship, we can incorporate it into your invoice. Some other options are:
- Product custom fields
- Invoice custom fields
- Agreement custom fields (vs. Agreement Additions)
- Company custom fields
- Time Entry custom fields
Will my invoice work the same as the default invoice?
Any customized template that displays a single invoice works exactly the same way as the default invoice in Manage. That is, you will open it in the invoice screen, make sure your new template is selected in the template drop-down, and print/email as usual.
How do Combined Invoices differ from regular invoices?
Creation. Select any applicable invoice to generate a combined invoice. All invoices from the same company in the same status will be displayed together.
Regeneration. The combined invoice setup is designed to print/send current invoices. We can set up a process to regenerate master invoices but we do not guarantee this functionality.
ConnectBooster/customer portal. Combined invoices must be generated from the invoicing screen while all included invoices are open. Workarounds for regenerating invoices are not practical for customer invoice generation.
How many invoices can I combine? There is no set limit and we have generated combined invoices with hundreds of line items. However, generation can be very slow and after multiple hundreds of line items can hit the practical limits of Report Writer.
**How many types of invoices can I include? There is not a set limit to how many invoice types can be combined. However, depending on the types of invoices being combined, your quoted cost to combine them may be higher.
